MeteorSpec-PLINE - plugin for summarizing lengths and areas.

Features summary

MeteorSpec-PLINE is a totally customizable multipurpose CAD plugin for summarizing lengths and areas of any objects that can be modeled by lightweight polylines. These can be various pipes, communication cables and overhead lines, coverings, pavements, fences, curbs, communication lines etc.

MeteorSpec-PLINE version 2 provides the following features:

• Data Library. MeteorSpec-PLINE has an editable Data Library, which means that you can always have a set of objects that you need for your work. The User edits the Data Library to create equipment and material types list necessary for work, accounting for regional and national standards and specifics of the task to solve.
• Assigning data to several objects. MeteorSpec-PLINE has the "Copy Data" command. This command helps you to quickly copy data from one object to several ones.
• Unlimited quantity of models in the drawing. Models can be created either in Model space, or in Paper space, at any layout tab of the drawing. A single drawing can comprise any number of engineering network models that are independent of each other and located at different layout tabs.
• Smart Reports. The main feature of this plugin is that you can assign data to polylines, that you want to calculate. This allows you to not just get a total length or area value, but see it in the form of detailed report.
• Total Length Calculation. Results of the specification are output into the drawing in a form of a table. When making final reports, results are grouped. Within each group, lengths of objects of similar type are summarized to be output into the report table. The length of each object is defined as the length of a polyline in a drawing plus additional length value as specified by the User.
• Total Area Calculation. Results of the specification are output into the drawing in a form of a table. When making final reports, results are grouped. Within each group, lengths of objects of similar type are summarized to be output into the report table. MeteorSpec-PLINE has build-in procedure to check self-intersecting polylines.
• Universality. MeteorSpec supports vast majority of measurement units which you can set individually per drawing. Units of measurement and number of digits after the decimal point are set individually for Model space and for Paper space. Area measurement units will correspond to selected length units.
• Build-in Help system describes the operation of the MeteorSpec-PLINE plugin.

Polylines for total length calculations should be drawn on a layer "meteor-spec-lt-length" and polylines for total area calculations should be drawn on a layer "meteor-spec-lt-area".

On this page you can see only some of the many dialog windows used by the MeteorSpec-PLINE.

Object Data

Assigning data to any MeteorSpec-PLINE object. Line long spans of engineering networks or boundaries of areas are simulated with lightweight polylines within the work layers of the program. Certain data must be assigned to an object to define the line long object or area.

The dialog window allows to set and view all required data of a the line long object or boundary of area.

Click on the „Edit Type“ button to define a new description of an object via the "Edit Data Library" window. Having received the new object type, the drop-down list "Object type" will be updated.

MeteorSpec-PLINE works with lightweight polylines which are two-dimensional objects. But to simulate three-dimensional elements of engineering networks within object data, there exists “Additional length” property. Here, you may input the length of spans that have expanse by Z-coordinate in the object simulated.

Edit Data Library

The main property of an object is "Type". It may be a cable grade when designing cable networks, or pipe type for miscellaneous pipelines, or any other characteristics of a line long object or area the user may need.

The user edits the data library to create equipment and material types list necessary for work, accounting for regional and national standards and specifics of the task to solve. The user can define any number of types according to the needs and tasks to be solved by the user.

Drawing Units and Settings

The final output of the MeteorSpec-PLINE is a table with model objects summarized lengths or summarized areas calculation to be represented in necessary units of measurement. The units of measurement and table settings are defined for current drawing only.

Units of measurement and number of characters after the decimal point are set individually for Model space and for Paper space. Area measurement units will correspond to selected length units.

Note, units of measurement that are operated by MeteorSpec-PLINE are not related to the units of measurement of the other MeteorSpec plugins (MeteorSpec-ELECTRIC and MeteorSpec-NETWORK) and thus they do not affect settings of them. Also units of measurement that are operated by MeteorSpec-PLINE are not related to the units of measurement of the CAD platform and thus they do not affect CAD platform settings.
